Wispy Dragon in a Cotton-Candy Sky

You’re in the back seat of your parents’ car, driving home from a long day at a theme park. As the sun is setting, the sky is bathed in gorgeous orange and purple hues. Up in the sky is a single, long cirrus cloud, resembling a long dragon. As you start to daydream, it comes to life and goes on fantastic adventures, making an overwise dull car ride a part of the trip to remember.

Wispy Dragon in a Cotton-Candy Sky is an energetic and whimsical flight for flexible ensemble. Originally for concert band, this version is adapted for five instruments with optional percussion. Wispy Dragon was completed in September 2020 in Durham, North Carolina.
